Graava as hardware

While first created for sports enthusiasts, we wanted to make a camera that everyone could use naturally in their homes as well. Unlike the tech-heavy look of other devices like GoPro, Graava's simple, understated design lets it blend in anywhere - whether as a security camera in an entryway or watching over a baby's room.

The way Graava works is inspired by how our brains create memories. It uses various tools to detect important moments: a camera lens, microphone, motion sensor, GPS, and heart rate monitor. What catches Graava's attention? Moving objects, changes in sound and speed, and even the quickening of your own heartbeat. And since it records location, your videos become a digital diary of your most meaningful experiences.

Graava as software

To complement the camera, we developed a mobile app to extend Graava’s functionality to smartphones, enabling automatic video recording and editing using the same intelligent algorithm as the camera. Users could customize video length and format for platforms like Instagram or YouTube.

Initial release

A key innovation I contributed to was the design of interactive patterns for flagging key moments in videos, helping the algorithm self-edit more effectively—an innovation later adopted by competitors, demonstrating Graava’s influence on the evolution of video editing technology.
